I had a hearty meal at lunch. Stir fried some kangkong with belacan and chilli padi. Fried some salted fish (ikan kurau) and deep fried some sliced sausages. Yummy!

I can't wait for 26th December, 2009 because I'm having a family BBQ for my maternal family. I'm the head planner! I hope nothing goes wrong. I have so many ideas but it's best to stick to the simpler things in life. Other than that, I'm also looking forward to someone returning to Singapore for his home leave from the 9th-13th December.

I've been rather busy with so many things. I've just returned from Hong Kong a few days back and I did not get to welcome my boyfriend home because the dates clashed. Suddenly craved for porridge + chye poh (salted radish) yesterday. To my surprise, I have a packet of chye poh ready to be cooked! This dish has been my ultimate favorite since I was a kid. My dad loves Chinese dishes and I have been fed some of the oiliest spread of deep fried vegetarian snacks from the defunct vegan stall at Tanglin Halt in the late 80's. I grew up in Bukit Merah / Tanglin Halt area until my late paternal grandparents passed away in the early 90's. The countless fun void deck wedding days, sleepovers with cousins, dwelling on television (Aksi Mat Yoyo! LOL!) and snacks on weekends and all good, simple things which I can only reminisce.

Ok, back to porridge! I chopped up some garlic and cooked some porridge for an easy, breezy fuss free meal!

This dish calls for an egg (optional), salted radish
and chopped garlic.
I used two eggs snce they're relatively small.

Fry the garlic until fragrant, add in the radish.
Add in sugar, salt, dark soya sauce, stir fry.

Add in the eggs.
Mix them up when the egg is half cooked.
The radish practically jumped out of the wok
when they're cooked.
Serve with porridge
(and a cold glass of herbal water chestnut drink).

Since I was already chopping the garlics (which I kinda hate to do because they're so small),
I chopped extra for my guilty pleasure indulgence of buttery garlic spread. Home made!
Fortunately, there's a new tub of Praise so I took the old one (no expired ok!) which is a quater full.
I left out the parmesan cheese because I'm don't have any handy since my last garlic spread frenzy (last week). I don't fancy celery for my spread and ready made spread tasted kinda yucky for the aftertaste. In with salt, sugar, rosemary and basil. You can use dry or fresh herbs. Basil and rosemary combo doesn't fail my tastebud. Mix them up, label my tub and keep them in the fridge. I can just spread it over rye, white, foccacia, ciabatta etc, with a little dash of olive oil and popped them in the oven. Serve them with a hearty soup, slices of lean meat, sun dried tomatoes or simply with a glass of fresh fruit juice. I love mine on any grainy bread (the added texture and bite), a side of grilled button mushroom, slices of cracker barrel extra sharp cheddar and apricot nectar juice. Yummy!

We have 2 months to go before we meet again. I totally despise the part where we have to bid goodbye. Who doesn't? Pardon me if it has always been about my other half. It hasn't been easy. He promised to buy me air tickets so that we can meet every 2 months, how sweet. Accommodation, food, leisure, transportation, shopping and everything else was all on him during my last 2 visits to Brunei. One was in early August the other just a week plus ago. Thank you, it doesn't come cheap. On a lighter note, December please come soon and I hope it won't end. He's gonna be back for NYE! Plans, I need plans. Pictures up at Facebook, nothing much. Brunei is so stagnant! Anyway, it's him that I was up for. I still am, don't get me wrong! LOL. Looking forward to Friday for shopping with Ma and to satisfy my craving for ngo hiang. All thanks to 'Jalan-jalan cari makan' when it was aired on Suria 2 nights back. Oh yes, I made a friend during my return flight to Singapore. Her name's Ify, 29. She's so adorable and hyper. Very inspiring basically because she's been traveling to many places. I was amazed! Her husband's not a local, she went to Ecuador for her honeymoon (such a nice place as depicted from her album) and she has a house in Madrid. I've honestly not even heard of Suriname but she's been there. Heh.

I've only been away for 3 days and I'm already home sick. Monday was house hunting around Bandar Seri Begawan. I want to stick around Bandar/Gadong but we're still working out on it. We're still contemplating between renting and buying. In fact, we still have many things to settle but I don't think I would ever want to be a PR here. Read that, EVER!

Monday night was in total darkness due to black out. Whole of Brunei affected excluding Temburong. Lucky BF was around and we had our own mode of transportation to get around. Tuesday was last day with BF. Had lunch, movie (The Ugly Truth) at The Mall and bowling at Utama. BF left vehicle at Jln Aman camp and left for Temburong. I was left alone at the hotel and Brunei is notorious for not having a public transport after 1700. The warmest weather, the boring mall and many other cons made me ponder if I could ever survive here after signing my life away to him. LOL. I swear I will make a monthly trip overseas once I've settled in Brunei! Tired of the Bahs, Ndas, Awdas and the other lingo here! Looking forward to Friday and Saturday for house visiting!

I love the new year gifts I got from him. I'm going to shop for a gift for him this Saturday. Happy New Year to everyone. Every year during countdown, I'm so confused. I nearly pass out last night after my cousins and brother spun me around a mini go round. Although it was raining, I had a rolling good time with them. The sunset (although it was kinda cloudy with overrated pollution) was pretty especially with good food and even better companions! The trip to that boring mall is alright and we even got a cotton candy and popcorn for free each. I love you girls and (a) boy.

I'll be heading over to Port Dickson and KL in a few days time. Will be meeting with some friends from Damansara and Bandar Utama and looking forward to a birthday party at Luna Bar.I want to make time for Euphoria at Bandar Sunway too. If time permits that is!

Oh yes, been googling for warehouse sales in KL but nothing caught my eye. The friends and families of Benefit Cosmetics sale ends before I arrive. Wanted to cancel Port Dickson's room but that will set me back US $15. Sighs. Let's hope that the Watsons clearance sale has a wide selection of great toiletries and COSMETICS that I can lug home! Provided that my friend can drive me to Cheras. On the way there, I can buy some stuff from Carrefour just opposite Queen's Park.

Anyway, I tried and tested a new brownie recipe with chocolate ganache topping. A tad sweet but vanilla ice cream will balance the intense sweetness of the brownie. It's chewy, gooey and chocolate-y. I made half the recipe. This is a good recipe to be kept in my files. Next, photos of Yoda. Bella and Yoda are now team mates. They do things together. Cute, I know!

I've just had salmon-mayo-lettuce-chillies-tomatoes-onion-cheese toasted sandwich and a mug of iced cola with a wedge of lemon at 7am. Don't mention about how unhealthy it is! I have a new Persian kitten that I will have to foster for a month before I sign the adoption form. It's sandy beige orange-y male kitten (Ok, I'm craving for marmalade with butter toast now!) I've just spent $15 for cab, $3 on Iams trial pack kitten food and $15 for the poor kitten ear bug treatment serum. So much for fostering, BAH! Anyway I'll be back for it's vaccination in a month's time. The SPCA calls him Porsche but I either call him Popiah because it's cute or Yoda because he's got this weird Yoda-esque look to go with his playful antics. He's toilet trained with the litter, thank god! I'm gonna shop for more pet stuff today. Oh, my other 3 cats aren't happy with the Popiah, they found him a nuisance. It's funny how the 3 darlings of mine got jealous and gave out the weird sound. Haha. I still love them no matter how many more I add to the family, especially my Bella. She's lazy, chubby and adorable! New kitten, new favorite scent of warm vanilla sugar, new favorite drink of ceylon tea with vanilla extract, new super yummy and sexy engineer boyfriend in SAF jumpsuit to spend time with everyday, I feel so blessed.

That sums up my weekend. A belated birthday surprise for my boyfriend at Golden Landmark Hotel on the Executive Club Floor, room 1708. Free flow of cocktail and continental breakfast at the Executive Club Lounge, express check out and complimentary internet, late check out til 1800 and 24 hours access to the Executive Club Lounge via electronic key card. Booked it via RatesToGo at the last minute, around 4am on 9th August itself. Fireworks at City Hall, a little shopping at Suntec City. Had some drinks at Velvet Underground with his friends without my camera because it's ugly and bulky. Priority and free entrance for my and boyfriend compliments of my credit card. Waking up on Sunday was loathsome... BAH!

Happy 21st Birthday, sweetheart!

This is the 4th time I'm celebrating his birthday as his girlfriend being 18th birthday the first one. In 2004, I celebrated his birthday as a friend and so I'm waiting for the day when I'll celebrate his birthday as his wife. Heh. Oh well, seriously that never really crossed my mind until I believe that I practically do tonnes of things with him and felt like a total loser when he had to leave for his camp. I'm lost without him. I know we can live without men but no, not for this particular boyfriend. I don't know where this relationship will go but I'm making the best of it. His enlistment taught me to treasure this relationship and also my loved ones. Things might eventually not be yours but taking things for granted is not an option.
I cannot wait for him to book out tomorrow. I miss him. He got pissed off when I decided not to sing a song for him last night (even though I can't sing, he still insisted). I'll sing him a birthday song when he calls tonight. Anyway, his gift has not arrived. Sighs.On a lighter note, I can't wait to meet him tomorrow and his friends on Saturday!

Having less spending power does not help. Especially when you need new clothes, shoes and bags for the new environment that you will enter soon. No, I don't need fancy salons, polished talons or whatever. Dad has told me to cut down on swiping his supplement card and I've overspent the credit limit for my personal card. At this juncture, I wish that Dad will spare me 10 more supplementary cards. At the same time, I want to start paying my own bills because I need to break out from this facade and tell myself I'm already 23. I'm responsible for my personal card's bills though. Good sign?

The job could mean saving up for what I've always wanted. A place me and my boyfriend could call home and a side project; a boutique. Oh yes, more trips out of here! Hooray, 4 more days to booking out! We'll head to Beatnik Picnic and some drinks after that.

I had a nice evening yesterday. From 1700-1940. It's confinement but his sergeant is the best! I shall make him pie or fruit tarts for that 19 year old sergeant. I cannot elaborate or spill anything here because my boyfriend told me no to. I was a happy dim sum. It was the first time I took a picture with him in his uniform and it was the first time I get to have a decent chat for 2 hours plus after 5 days of his enlistment. I hate his oily scalp and dirty fingers. I wish I could scrub him clean last night. That's what you get for being in the army.

Today, I'm gonna collect my invitation card from my friend who's getting married. We've known each other for 8 years and we lost contact but met again while I was doing my attachment at Alexandra Hospital. Her husband to be is my ex boyfriend (those bullshit GBR thingy). Another friend of mine is getting hitched too, at the age of 27 and she and her boyfriend have been together for many many years. Congrats to Arni Marwani & Abdul Fattah and Rasidah & I'm sorry I forgot your name.

Oh, this is so random. I miss the BF and today is his outfield training. Swimming yesterday was nice and I will do it again next Sunday. I have the house all to myself today and I wish he's here. I'm gonna clean up the bedroom and cook satay's sambal and boil some pre made lontong again. If he's around, he will help me with my bedroom. I think I have to stop this. I have to learn to be on my feet without him. Pfft. Gonna watch some new shows like The Secret Life of The American Teenager and Flashpoint. I wonder what happened to Men in Trees on Channel 5 but will definitely watch it all over again online. Oh, Kyle XY Season 2 is on Channel 5, Sundays. About time but I'm done with it.

Speaking of designer's knock-offs, they're great for the budget and fashion conscious but nonetheless great shoes. Oh, those shoes facing the left are from Topshop. I love chunky strappy ones and funky wedges. I'm still in search for the perfect one and a pair of neon colored, stable chunky classic pump shoes. Sidetrack, the avian influenza is kinda threatening though. Sighs, after all, I can't cancel the trip.

Finally, everything's falling apart on Season 4.
It's sad to see that it all ends just like that. The rating's low too but no doubt I'm still a fan.
It's weird without Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton). I love the "FAB 4"!
Ryan Atwood (Brian McKenzie), Seth Cohen (Adam Brody) , Summer Roberts(Rachel Bilson) and Marissa Cooper.

Came along Taylor and Kaitlin Cooper (Willa Holland).
Ms. Cooper's character is kinda similar to Marissa. They're sisters in the series. You know, Chanel front row, Paris Fashion week shit. Gosh, these girls never knew hardship when it comes to wealth...
Oh, they even sound the same, the accent. I know Mischa's from the UK but I'm not sure about Willa Holland.

Summer turned into a hippie, a mature Brown's student with ethical rights of environment thingy, an activist to be precised. She turns back to her fashionista socialite self after getting over Marissa's death but still an activist. The pasrt when she went back to Seth with her real self is just so touching. I cried. Hee. Taylor stays with the Cooper and has issues with her "bitch" Mum.
Seth's working in a record store or is it a comic store? Of course, Marissa's dead and Ryan's searching for Volchok in Mexico together with Seth ( in this episode, The Gringos, Seth was drinking with Steve O from Jackass and got himself a tattoo). It was hilarious but still, like I've mentioned, it's very weird.

You guys should watch it. Channel 5 is still like what... airing Season 3? Geez.
I have the whole set of Season 1 -3 DVDs, can borrow from yours truly. Really.
Season 4 just aired late last year on FOX TV and last Tuesday in the UK.

Hey, I watched Victim of The Spirit on Tuesday.
At first I thought, another movie which just give me once in every 10 minutes shocks.
Then, there was a twist. It's actually quite haunting especially that sound that will come everytime that "bapok" spirit is around and it gets faster...
Oh ya, the spirit is actually a transvetite who dies because a surgeon agreed to operate on her own village's bedroom and so it went wrong. The funny thing is that they use the manual blood pressure set. placed on the bed. That guy/girl wants to look exactly like his/her favorite actress, May.

You'll get confused on the plot but during the climax of the show, it all shows exactly what it was all about.

Geez, now, I sensed the "eerie-ness" of Thailand. Hee.
Never felt anything when I was in Bangkok last April. All I know is Chatuchak market rocks and the tuk-tuk ride is always fabulous! These rides just go about anywhere, even the dirtiest slumps and the small corners. Cheapthrill, i miss it. :(
Sala daeng never failed to amuse me but the nightlife there ends just slightly after 2am.

I cannot post the wedding pictures for the past 2 weeks because my SLR camera needs a USB 2.0 port for high speed, just like PSP and Ipods.
Dang!!! For these pictures I used my bro's camera. The date set up can't function anymore. Sighs. Eh, don't mind the VOLCANIC ZIT on my forehead eh. Karen said it's very "VOLCOM". Fuck la. Heee.
Anyway, I'm happy when my parents get their bonus and I've been good, I know.
My dad and his got us the SLR.
Ma gave me $300 plus a pair of Topshop dark wash denims, Zara purple A line skirt with black trimmings (so MOD!), black Dorothy Perkins jeans (see pict.) and an Ipod mini when I actually asked for Ipod Nano in RED. It's ok though, I'm still happy.Not to mention all the Bourjois and MAC cosmetics.
Dad gave me $200 to spend, $500 to top up for paying our SLR (Adib paid more ahha!) and another $300 which he credited to my OCBC account for my April vacation trip.
...and by the way, I've got myself a mobile phone, again courtesy of Dad, but it's a second hand black Motorola V3I, only $150, full set and empty warranty. Dad bought it from his Bangla worker.
Speaking of which, Dad promised to get me a V3x next year and that V3i will be handed down to Faez.That's the phone that I actually wanted few months back but he said "NO!". Now, what I wanted is an O2 Atom. Hah! Forget it, I'm not so much of a mobile freak anyway.
Baby bought me a Guess bag. It's kinda mix of Bling Bling and Rock star kinda thing. The metal studs and the rhinestones. It's in black and it's lovely.
